Our Mission Statement
The Community of Windham Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501 © 3 organization serving the full-time and seasonal residents and visitors to the Town of Windham. The Foundation’s mission includes support in the following areas:
 
The Arts & Culture
Purpose: To support the community with assistance in development and promotion of various cultural and artistic organizations and activities indigenous to our area.
Goals & Objectives: To create a positive atmosphere to foster the arts in and around Windham; to raise the awareness of and potential for Windham to become a destination for the arts; to assist other existing organizations in obtaining grant funding to support the arts.
 
Historic Preservation
Purpose: To preserve a link to our past by creating and disseminating information about historical significance and development of the Town as well as assist in the general beautification and enhancement of its present appearance, including preserving its historic character.
Goals & Objectives: Raise public awareness of our rich local history and the importance of historic preservation; preserve and protect our historic resources (i.e. buildings, landscapes, artifacts, etc.); enhance the aesthetic appearance of the Town; assist with projects designed to preserve and/or rehabilitate properties with special historic significance.
 
Recreation
Purpose: To foster more and better public recreational opportunities in the Town for residents and visitors of all ages.
Goals & Objectives: To upgrade and enhance existing recreational facilities in the Town and assist in the development of new ones; to support existing youth groups and sports organizations that provide recreational opportunities; to promote greater public access to and enjoyment of state-owned and city-owned lands within the Town of Windham; to provide more recreational/social opportunities for seniors; to promote Windham as a world class year-round recreational destination

 Greene County Legislature Youth Grant to Chris Schoepe for 
Thunder Baseball


Receiving funding for a Greene County Legislative Youth Grant from Legislator Jim Hitchcock, is Sharon Quinn, who for the third year will work with students on Civil War history and Civil War portrayals.  Each student will make their own period impression during a week in July, then participate in the annual Civil War Music Gathering and Encampment the first weekend in August in Windham, NY.  Assembled are, top row, left to right, Kathy Stone, and Cathi Aplin from the Community of Windham Foundation, the conduit for the grant,  some veterans and new recruits for the program, Garrett Sullivan, Anthony Holmok, Patrick Parchinsky, Brent Emerton, Katherine Holmok and Annie Jakubowki from the Community of Windham Foundation.  Pictured on the bottom row are Legislator Jim Hitchcock, Sharon Quinn, Samantha Aplin, Madeline Forbes, Nicholas Holmok, Olivia Kornbeck and Charissa Craig
