Mike & Jane Avella
A Remembrance Gathering of Family, Friends & Neighbors
Saturday May 3rd, 2014 –
At the VFW Post 1545
Freedom Hall
11 am – 3 pm

On December 11, 2013 Mike Avella, founder and former chairman of the Community of Windham Foundation, passed away after battling cancer.  In less than a month his devoted and beloved wife Jane died on January 18, 2014. We will greatly miss their love, friendship and dedication to making our community a better place to live.

Mike, a St. Bonaventure University graduate, Knights of Columbus and Marine Corps League member, exemplified the tradition of valuing human relationships and providing help for one’s neighbors. Jane’s endearing smile and the love she and Mike shared was admired by all who knew them. We are honored and pleased to extend an invitation on behalf of the family to all of Mike and Jane’s mountaintop friends and neighbors to a May 3rd Remembrance Gathering.

We welcome your sharing recollections and personal memories about Mike and Jane. The Foundation plans to keep their memory alive through the establishment of the Mike and Jane Avella scholarship that will be awarded to a Windham Ashland Jewett CSD student to pursue a career in the arts or environmental science. A donation will be made in their honor to the Windham Area Recreation Foundation to further the development of the multi-use recreational trail that will connect Windham and the surrounding hamlets. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, May 3rd at the VFW Hall. Please bring your stories and share the legacy of Mike and Jane with family and friends.
